As part of national and community efforts to strengthen human protection and confront the crimes of human trafficking and exploitation, an awareness conference was held at the Presidency of the Republic — Women's Affairs Department, with wide participation from official bodies, international organizations, and relevant institutions. The conference aimed to raise awareness of the dangers of human trafficking, shed light on crimes of child exploitation, and support efforts to build a safer, more aware society.
The conference was jointly organized by Nesmet Ataa Organization and Arabkha Organization, sponsored by Qi Card, and attended by representatives of international organizations, diplomatic missions and embassies, the Supreme Judicial Council, and a number of ministries and specialized institutions — a scene that reflects the importance of uniting efforts and coordinating roles to confront these crimes and limit their impact on society.
This diverse participation added real value to the conference, providing a space for dialogue and the exchange of expertise between the concerned parties, and confirming that combating human trafficking and protecting those most vulnerable to exploitation requires continuous cooperation between national institutions and international partners.
The conference addressed key topics related to human trafficking crimes and the forms of exploitation individuals may face, with particular focus on crimes of child exploitation — considering child protection a core pillar of any humanitarian and rights-based effort to build a safe, stable society.
It also stressed the importance of community awareness as the first line of defense against these crimes: empowering families and communities to recognize the dangers of exploitation and grooming, spreading legal and rights awareness, and encouraging the reporting of cases that may endanger children or other vulnerable groups.
The presence of the Supreme Judicial Council and specialized ministries and institutions highlighted the institutional and legal role in confronting trafficking crimes and protecting victims, alongside the importance of integrating legal, humanitarian, and awareness dimensions to strengthen prevention, protection, and response.
The participation of international organizations, missions, and embassies likewise reflected the importance of international cooperation, exchanging experience, and building partnerships that develop protection and awareness mechanisms and support national anti-trafficking efforts.
Nesmet Ataa believes that protecting children and combating the crimes that target them is not the responsibility of one party alone, but a shared responsibility requiring the combined efforts of the state, specialized institutions, civil society organizations, and the international community — alongside the essential role of the family and society.
Confronting human trafficking does not begin when a crime occurs; it begins with awareness and prevention, and with building a society capable of protecting its members, recognizing dangers, and responding correctly. Protecting children requires a safe environment that safeguards their rights, prevents their exploitation, and puts their safety and dignity first.
